The problem before

In many companies the quote lives in a spreadsheet, the invoice in another piece of software, the stock in a notebook, and the customer's details in the inbox of whoever met them. Each of these tools is right on its own. Together, they contradict each other.

The cost is not the software: it is the time spent copying things across, and the mistakes that copying brings. A price changed on the quote but not on the invoice. An address that is current in one place only. An item sold twice because the stock was not known.

What Cydoo changes: information is entered once and everyone works from it. The quote becomes the order, which becomes the delivery note, which becomes the invoice, with no re-entry.

What that looks like in practice

At Les Ateliers du Vent d'Ouest, Farida enters the customer once when they call. Yanis finds that same record in the workshop to prepare the delivery. Camille sees the month's figures without having to ask anyone. That's all it is, and it is already a great deal.

What it does not do

Cydoo does not decide for you and does not replace your trade. It has no idea whether the oak on this job should be oiled or varnished: it only knows that you sold it, to whom, at what price, and whether it is in stock. That limit is good news: you keep control of what matters, and the tool takes over the remembering.

What changes after three months

The first weeks ask for a little discipline: enter things as they happen, not on Friday evening in catch-up mode. Past that point the benefit shows. Nobody hunts for "the latest version" of a quote any more, and the question "where are we with this customer?" is answered in three seconds, without disturbing the person who knew.

In closing

Cydoo does not do your job for you: it does the part of the work that consists of remembering and copying. What you gain is not spectacular on day one; it is after three months that you measure the time you no longer spend searching.
